Summer Time Painting Time

Hello everyone & happy summer!

I am now back in AMERICA!

For about two weeks I have been home from my adventures in Europe—I am happy to report that jetlag is finally no more! I was gone for about 2 months and got to see 5 different countries while I was away. I saw the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, England, and Scotland!

My original plan wasn’t to stop in Scotland, but an unexpected opportunity popped up to visit some friends in Edinburgh and I couldn’t pass it up!

In Prague, we got a personal tour from my lovely sis who had been studying abroad there for her last semester of college.

While in England, I got to see not only Westminster Abbey but my dear friend Ruth who is living and painting in Bath for the summer.

It all went by to fast!  All of my artwork has made it home safe and sound, and I still have many other inspirations that are waiting to be painted! I am filled to the brim with great stories, adventures, and inspiration.

Although I am home from all my adventures, that doesn’t mean things are going to slow down. Summer is the artist’s busiest time of year and I am hitting the ground runnin’!

I have a wonderfully jam packed summer, and would love for you to be a part of it!

To start, this week I am spending my time painting in lavender fields. For another year I have decided to participate in the Lavender Paint Out with around 100 other local artists. The next couple weeks we will be painting en plein air amidst the bumblebees and flowers in the various lavender fields throughout the valley. Then, finally, all of the artwork that is created will be displayed at the Chehalem Cultural Center on July 14th - 15th as a part of the Willamette Valley Lavender Festival. While I will be posting some photos of my painting progress, I would love for you to see my paintings in person that weekend! Come see some pretty paintings, smell some lovely lavender and maybe, if you are feeling adventurous, try a lavender treat from one of the many cool vendors that will be there!

For more information about the Lavender Festival check out: http://www.wvlavenderfestival.org.

In between painting for the Lavender Festival, I am busy preparing for the Bellevue Festival of the Arts! This will be my first time participating at Bellevue and I am so excited. It is one of the most well attended and well known arts festivals in the NW and I am ready for all of the fun and craziness that will certainly ensue!

Many of the paintings that I will be showing are brand new works that I have never shown before and that I have made with Bellevue specifically in mind. I am excited to finally be close to exhibiting these pieces!

Come visit my booth and get a first look at my newest work.

Admission to the festival is entirely free; the festival runs from July 27th - July 29th.

Other things to keep on the radar:

My big art show, the Grand Reveal Show 2018, is going to be on Sunday, October 14th at Anam Cara Cellars in Newberg, Oregon.

This is the show where I will be revealing all of the new paintings that I have created/will create of my travels in Europe – 13 of these paintings were pre-sold before I left and this will be when the patrons will get to see and take their pieces home!

If you were at last year’s show, you know how special and fun it was. I am looking forward to another great show!

Additionally, I will be having a special showcase at the Bush Barn Art Gallery in Salem, Oregon beginning November 10th through December 23rd. I know that sounds a bit far out, but hey, they are already selling Halloween decorations at the store!

Well that is all for now folks—I will keep you posted on other fun things to come!

I wish a fun and safe 4th of July to you all!

April Showers Bring Spring Paintings

Happy April everyone!

It is that time of year where all of the flowers start popping out of the ground – finally giving us Oregonians a little taste of the hope that spring & summer will share with us.

A few weeks ago I celebrated my first outdoor painting of the year in the most perfect way – in a field fully filled with blooming daffodils!

(Check out my little en plein air painting from this day below.)

One month from today I will be packing up all my art supplies and leaving for Europe!

And it is coming so fast… First Prague, then Germany, Austria, and England!

Thank you to all of you who have already pre-purchased paintings so far!

Like last year, I am doing a pre-sale for the paintings that I will be making overseas. If you buy one of these European pieces, you will be purchasing a painting that I will personally paint on-site in Europe – en plein air – and bring back home for you as your own personal little piece of Europe!

Each (professionally framed) painting will be revealed for the first time at a Grand Reveal Art Show in October where each buyer will come and see their painting displayed for the first time!

In Europe I will be painting around 20 pieces – and there are only 7 left! If you want to snatch one of these up, see below:

5  - 6”x6” watercolor paintings from each location on trip ($250)

2  - 9”x12” oil paintings England only ($380 each)

If you are interested in purchasing one of these European paintings, let me know (by email) and I will happily reserve one for you!

Other exciting things to look forward to:

July 14th & 15th Lavender Festival Plein Air Show

July 27th-29th Bellevue Arts Festival

*more to come, stay tuned*

I don’t know about you but I am REALLY thankful it is spring. May you notice the birds singing and flowers blooming this week!

Thank you for reading & seeing the beauty of art,

The Big Announcement!

Hello all,

In my last newsletter I mentioned to stay tuned for a big announcement... and here it is!

I am happy to say that I will be getting the opportunity to go back to Europe this year – AND will be making more art! This May & June, I will be going to Prague, Germany, Austria and England.

Last year I travelled to Europe for the very first time – I never thought I would get the opportunity to go back to so soon. My little sister is currently studying abroad in Prague so we get the chance to visit her after she finishes her program in early May. We will be traveling from Prague to places like Bavaria, Vienna and the Neuschwanstein Castle!

After my travels with my family, I will get to join my dear friend Ruth in England. Ruth is one of the best and most successful young artists I know.  She will be staying in the city of Bath for a couple months and has invited me to join her for a few weeks. We are looking forward to adventuring and painting together throughout England.  To see some of Ruth’s artwork you can go to www.ruthspeer.com

I am so looking forward to seeing all of these magical places with my own eyes! I am also looking forward to the inspiration and paintings that are to come.

Speaking of which, I will be packing along my art supplies to paint en plein air and continue to create artwork in beautiful places around the world.

Just like last year, I am doing a pre-sale for these European paintings.

If you buy one of these pieces, you will be purchasing a painting that I will personally paint on-site in Europe – en plein air – and bring back home for you as your own personal little piece of Europe!

Below are the sizes & options available:

12  -  6”x6” watercolor paintings from each location on the trip ($250 each)

5  -   9”x12” oil paintings England only ($380 each)

Each (professionally framed) painting will be revealed for the first time at a Grand Reveal Art Show in October where each buyer will come and see their painting displayed for the first time, getting to take their painting home with them that night.**

This year’s Grand Reveal is sure to be a great show!

I saw how traveling to Europe last year brought both great people & great art into my life. I am excited to see how that momentum of learning and growth will unfold this new year.

I am so thankful for everyone who has been and will be a part of this story of adventure, travel and art.

There are less available than last year – so send me an email (christinejoypaintings@gmail.com) if interested & I will reserve your painting on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Looking forward to a new year of painting and travel!

**The creator of this brilliant and innovative way to travel/create new paintings in some of the most beautiful places on the earth, is Valerie Rogers. One year ago, she dreamed up this idea to sell future paintings to allow me to go to Europe. While I was there I painted some of my best paintings yet and then brought them home to their patrons at the Grand Reveal Show of 2017.  I would have never thought that this would have ever been possible... but it worked! I was amazed and honored by all of the support and excitement that Valerie was able to rally around us.

Valerie is a pro traveler and a fantastic trip advisor. If you would like to get in contact with her you can visit her website at https://www.vestelletravel.com.

Another BIG thank you to you Valerie for all you have done for me!!
